TAMPA - A man forced his way into the Tampa apartment of his sister's boyfriend Tuesday night and during an argument fired a gun multiple times at the boyfriend, police say.
According to an affidavit:
Michael Reyes, 22, forced his way into Juan Tapia's apartment at about 8:45 p.m. Reyes started arguing with Tapia, who was at the apartment with his girlfriend, Ashley Reyes, Reyes' sister. During the argument, Reyes pulled a handgun and attempted to fire twice while saying, "I'm going to kill you," but the gun did not fire.
A roommate, Isael Barrerra, heard the commotion and came out of his bedroom. But he ran back in when Reyes turned the gun on him. Reyes then aimed the gun at Tapia again and fired one round that missed Tapia and traveled through the wall of the apartment. Reyes then fled the scene in his white GMC truck.
Both Ashley Reyes and Juan Tapia identified Michael Reyes as the man who broke into the apartment and fired the weapon at Tapia.
Michael Reyes, who is listed in jail records as being an acid tech for Southeast Industrial, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of armed burglary, all felonies. He is being held at Orient Road Jail with no bail set.
