TAMPA - A man who was banned from a racetrack was arrested Saturday after he trespassed on phosphate mine property then built a hunting tree stand in the woods so he could view the races, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Raymond Allen Rogers, 31, of 6012 Eureka Springs Road, Tampa, was charged with felony trespassing on agricultural-chemical manufacturing property and violation of probation.
Deputies were called to property owned by Mosaic, a phosphate company, at 6311 Burts Road about 9 p.m. Saturday and found Rogers in the 15-foot tall tree stand. Rogers told deputies he was watching the races at East Bay Raceway. Rogers was asked by racetrack managers to leave earlier that day because he was causing problems for patrons, the sheriff's office said.
Rogers was being at Orient Road Jail with no bail set.
