TAMPA - The family of a woman found dead in an abandoned house near Ybor City are asking the public for help in solving the case.
The body of Andrea Tolliver, 39, was found Dec. 19 in a closet at 2303 N. 23rd St. after people reported a suspicious odor. Tampa police said Tolliver had no known address at the time of her death. According to jail records, Tolliver had several trespassing and prostitution charges.
The medical examiner's office ruled Tolliver's death a homicide Feb. 1.
"She was a very nice person," said Tolliver's sister, Lilnetta Adkins, 21. "She'll give you anything."
The last time Tolliver was seen alive, it was the near the end of September, when she was hanging out with her children and other family members, Adkins said.
Adkins said she is raising three of her sister's five children. The past five months have been an ordeal for relatives, Adkins said. When Tolliver was a homeowner, she would often host family night on Thursdays and would take the children out, Adkins said.
"That's my big sister," she said. "I looked up to her."
Anyone with information is asked to call the Tampa Police Department at (813) 276-3200 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 873-TIPS.
