TAMPA - Police are investigating the disappearance of a disabled man who vanished over the weekend on the cusp of a new life.
Willis Killebrew, 36, and his fiancée, Olivia DeVille, 53, were moving in to a house over the weekend and planned to be married this week in a civil ceremony, said DeVille's daughter, Helen Sanders.
DeVille and her family last saw Killebrew about midnight at the house at 2116. W. St. Louis St., Sanders said. They planned to complete moving DeVille's belongings Saturday, but Killebrew had vanished.
"We're just really concerned," Sanders said. "This is really out of character for him. He just doesn't disappear."
Tampa police said the family filed a missing person's report about Killebrew on Monday. Police described Killebrew as about 5 feet tall and weighing 160 pounds.
Killebrew cannot walk without crutches because of a birth defect that affected his legs, Sanders said.
He works as a mechanic and has dated DeVille, a mother of seven children, since December. "He's very doting on my mom," said Sanders, who is visiting from Maryland. "He's been really supportive."
The couple planned a civil ceremony this week and a larger wedding in September, Sanders said.
Police asked anyone with information on his whereabouts to call (813) 231-6130.
