DADE CITY - A broken water distribution pipe prompted city officials to issue a precautionary boil water notice Monday for about 1,000 water customers.
The advisory is only for drinking water customers in neighborhoods west of the U.S. 98 Bypass, east of 13th Street, north of Willingham Avenue and south of Robinson Avenue, said Mike Mulholland, Dade City's utility manager.
The break was repaired and pressure to the water system was restored, but the advisory will remain in effect until bacteriological tests confirm the water is safe to drink, Mulholland said.
Those affected by the water notice are advised to bring water for drinking or cooking to a rolling boil for about one minute or to use bottled water.
