TEMPLE TERRACE - No one was hurt after a two-alarm fire heavily damaged three units this afternoon at Carlton Arms North Apartments, fire officials said.
The first crews arrived at 3:30 p.m. and reported seeing heavy smoke and flames coming from a roof and the rear of a 12-unit building, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue spokesman Ray Yeakley said.
The fire was under control within 30 minutes and extinguished in an hour, Yeakley said. Twelve emergency units and 30 firefighters responded to the scene at 13314 Thomasville Circle, south of Fletcher Avenue and across from Lettuce Lake Park.
Crews remain at the apartments checking for additional fire and damage. Three other units sustained water and smoke damage.
The fire originated on a second-floor balcony, but the cause is being investigated, Yeakley said.
