TAMPA Police are searching for a man who they say stabbed a cab driver Thursday in South Tampa.
John Wade Agan, 44, told police he was attacked by his passenger at West Idaho Street and South Faul Street about 5:30 p.m. after picking him up at North Boulevard and West Cleveland Street.
The attacker fled, and Agan then drove a quarter mile to a fire station at West Ingraham Street, Tampa police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.
Agan was taken to Tampa General Hospital with a stab wound in the upper chest, Tampa police Lt. Donny Peters said. Agan was released from the hospital hours later.
The motive for the attack is unclear.
The suspect is described as a white male, between 25 and 40 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 170 pounds. He has a shaved head and is clean-shaven. He has a teardrop tattoo below an eye, an unknown tattoo on his right wrist, and was last seen wearing a white tank top and jeans.
