LAKELAND - An 18-year-old suffered what appeared to be serious injuries Thursday night after he fell off his bicycle as it was being towed by an ATV four-wheeler, police said.
Anthony Stretton was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center about 8:30 p.m. with life-threatening injuries, police said.
According to investigators, Belton Shults, also 18, was operating an ATV on the 900 block of Crevasse Street in Lakeland. Shults was towing Stretton, who was riding a bicycle and holding on to a rope.
As Shults made a turn, Stretton was thrown from the bicycle and fell on the ground. The incident is under investigation.
