TAMPA - Intense thunderstorm activity in southern Pinellas County this evening dropped pea- to quarter-size hail, said Nick Petro, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
Treasure Island's wind gusts measured 63 mph at 7:15 p.m. Radar estimates showed that area had had about 2 inches of rain.
One Treasure Island condominium building suffered roof damage, and several residents were affected. In the St. Petersburg area, a tree fell on a home. In St. Pete Beach, a gust of wind lifted a trampoline onto power lines. No one was injured in any of the incidents.
Port Richey, meanwhile, had pea- to penny-sized hail, and radar estimates show that area had about an inch of rain this evening, Petro said.
Hillsborough County was spared the storms' effects.
