NEW PORT RICHEY - NEW PORT RICHEY - David Andrew White will have to live a long life if he hopes to walk free again.
This afternoon, a judge sentenced the 40-year-old to 36 years in prison for the 2005 murder of his wife, Andrea White.
A passer-by found Andrea White's decomposed body in a swamp in Trinity's Wyndtree subdivision on July 14, 2005. White, a 33-year-old mother of four, had disappeared from her home on Madison Street three days earlier.
Authorities said White's husband, David Andrew White, smothered his wife with a pillow, then dumped her body in the swamp.
White was convicted on Andrea White's murder April 25.
David White took the couple's two daughters and left for New York shortly after his wife's disappearance. He never called the authorities to report her missing. That was done by a concerned friend.
Although White initially agreed to return to Pasco County to aid authorities in the investigation, he eventually stopped cooperating. When he did speak to investigators and other witnesses, he constantly changed his account of what happened the night his wife disappeared.
