I recently returned from an airline trip. Upon check-in, I was told there is a $20 charge for the first bag checked. That bag was a small duffel bag that I had to check because of a prescribed cream medication I take for a skin condition.
Unfortunately, that medication was in a tube greater than the allotted 3-oz. size allowed in carry-ons.
When I boarded the plane I couldn't help but notice two out of three passengers were carrying on two or three bags that they had to stuff into the overhead spaces - which took extra time for everyone to be seated as well as extra time to deplane. The weight of the luggage for fuel consumption was the same as if it was in the cargo hold.
After takeoff, the flight attendants came around asking everyone if they would like to purchase anything. I ordered a bottle of water and was told that would be $3; water, soda and juice were $3.
Remember the good old days of airplane travel when you were treated like a prince or princess on airline flights?
