ST. PETERSBURG - Police shot and killed a man while approaching a crowd in the street late Saturday night.
According to St. Petersburg police spokesman Bill Proffitt, officers went to the 3100 block of Freemont Terrace South after someone reported a loud party. They arrived to find a large group of people gathered in the street.
Shortly after police arrived, an officer discharged his weapon, according to Proffitt. Detectives are investigating the shooting.
