DELAND - A Volusia County teen has been sentenced to probation for his role in a murder plot against his classmates.
The 14-year-old was sentenced Friday as part of a plea deal. Probation could last until he's 19.
He and two other DeLand Middle School students are accused of posting threats on the Internet of a Columbine-style massacre.
The 14-year-old's attorney says the boy was being bullied and that the Internet postings were a cry for help.
Prosecutors say the sentence assures that students are safe and the boy will get help.
The teen also was ordered to remain under a curfew, continue counseling, stay off of social networking sites, apologize to classmates and stay away from the school.
Cases against the other teens are still pending in court.
