TAMPA – Hillsborough Fire Rescue rushed to douse a house fire just after midnight.
The flames ate through the roof of the home at 3140 Smitter Road, causing the roof to collapse. Firefighters got the fire under control at one point, but the flames flared again, a captain on the scene said. Firefighters called for a tower truck to help douse the flames from above.
There are no reports of injuries. Firefighters said nobody was inside but were not sure whether the home was occupied.
No further information was immediately available.
