Gathering Robes, Gowns
Clients at Community Aging and Retirement Services Inc., Claude Pepper Adult Day Care Center in New Port Richey are ringing bells to entertain nursing home patients.
"Our participants began the art of bell ringing just a few months ago," the center's activity director, Barbara Olenski, said in a statement. "It has really created excitement and activity in our center.
"Our little group wanted to share their new-found talent with others, so we have taken the show on the road. They are in need of graduation robes or choir gowns to dress up for the presentations."
The clients, many of whom have memory disorders, are given one red and one blue bell each. They ring them in accompaniment to recorded song standards such as "God Bless America" and "Home on the Range."
