Death In Pinellas Home Under Investigation

SEMINOLE - Pinellas sheriff's detectives are trying to determine whether someone was killed in a home on 85th Terrace North as the result of a home invasion.
At about noon today, deputies went to 13937 85th Terrace N. after receiving a report of a person injured inside, Pinellas sheriff's Sgt. Jim Bordner said. Once they entered, they found someone dead.
The call was not placed from inside the home, Bordner said.
When deputies arrived, they found at least two people outside, Bordner said. They went inside and found a dead person.
Meanwhile, deputies received word of a home invasion at 10881 61st Ave. N., which is less than a couple miles away, Bordner said. Investigators are trying to determine whether the crime scenes are related.
During the incident at 61st Avenue North, two men wearing masks and dark clothing entered the house through an open garage door, detectives said. One of the men had a handgun.
When they got inside, the men demanded cash from a 50-year-old grandmother who was babysitting her 2-year-old grandson. The woman, whose name was not released by the sheriff's office, gave the men an undisclosed amount of cash before they left the house.
No injuries were reported during this robbery, authorities said.
None of the witnesses at either crime scene speak English, and detectives lined up translators to get statements from them, Bordner said.
The witnesses speak Mandarin Chinese, Vietnamese and Spanish.
