TAMPA - It might have seemed like bad news for Glen Upchurch of Clearwater on Monday night when his Texas hold 'em poker hand of four sixes was cracked by a straight flush.

Then came the payout.

The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa had a Bad Beat Jackpot that had reached $564,912. The loser of a hand as great as the one Upchurch had would receive 50 percent of the jackpot. The winner of the hand would get 25 percent, and the other players seated at that table would divide the remaining 25 percent.

According to a news release from the casino, the jackpot is the largest offered in Florida and is the record for live poker Texas hold 'em games at a single U.S. property.

Upchurch won $282,453.

William Lewicke of Winter Haven, who won the hand with a straight flush to the eight of spades, took $141,227 from the jackpot.

The eight other players each won $17,654.

The jackpot had been building since April 28, when there was a payout of nearly $286,000.
