TAMPA - A native of Queens, N.Y., will be one of the top planners behind Super Bowl XLIII at Raymond James Stadium in January, according to promotions made at the Tampa Police Department on Wednesday.
Marc Hamlin, who has been a captain in District 3 in East Tampa, became the new major in charge of the Special Support Division, which includes tactical, K-9 and marine officers and the safety coordination of the Super Bowl, the department said. Hamlin has been with the police department since 1990.
Police Chief Stephen Hogue also promoted Lt. Roosevelt "Rocky" Ratliff, a department veteran since 1989, to captain in District 3.
The promotions were made in the wake of Hogue elevating Robert Guidara, the former commander of District 3, to the rank of assistant chief earlier this week.
Maj. Gerald Honeywell will take Guidara's place in charge of District 3. Maj. John Bennett, who had supervised the Special Support Division, now will supervise District 2, which encompasses Busch Gardens, Sulphur Springs and New Tampa. Maj. Sophia Teague becomes the new commander of District 1 in South Tampa.
