Just getting chosen for "Survivor" is something of an ordeal, but at least the next one starts close to home.
CBS has announced a casting call for "Survivor 18" from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 23 at The Venue, 2675 Ulmerton Road in St. Petersburg.
The selection gantlet that follows includes videotapes and a trip to Los Angeles. Then the chosen few head for an unnamed "remote location" for a seven-week period between late October and mid-December, "or as otherwise scheduled by the Producers."
As usual, the lengthy online application form sets down a number of requirements, including this:
"Contestants will be selected based upon having the following traits: Strong-willed, outgoing, adventurous, physically and mentally adept, adaptable to new environments, interesting lifestyles, backgrounds and personalities."
And here's a rule that will keep John McCain and Barack Obama off the island: "Applicants who are selected as contestants cannot be candidates for public office until after the initial broadcast of all programs in which they appear."
