Dead Man In Lakeland Phosphate Pit Identified

A dead man found Thursday in a Lakeland phosphate pit has been identified by police as William Joseph Hough, 39.

Lakeland police said the death was suspicious and that they are investigating it as a homicide. Hough was found floating in the water of a phosphate pit in the Bridge Water subdivision, near State Road 33 and Interstate 4.

Hough's last known address was 2532 Roslyn Lane in Lakeland, police said.
