Sean Connery will offer the first public glimpse of his memoirs at this year's Edinburgh Book Festival, organizers announced Thursday.
The former James Bond star, a high-profile Scottish nationalist, will launch "Being a Scot" on Aug. 25, his 78th birthday.
The first - and, many say, the best - actor to play 007 on the big screen, Connery is a vocal supporter of the pro-independence Scottish National Party. He lives in the Bahamas and has said he will not reside in Scotland until it gains independence from the United Kingdom.
"This book has gone through more permutations than James Bond has had shaken not stirred martinis - different co-writers, different publishers," festival director Catherine Lockerbie said.
R. Kelly's Fate In Jury's Hands
Jurors began deliberating in R. Kelly's child pornography trial Thursday with the graphic sex tape at the center of the case fresh in their minds.
Prosecutors replayed the video during closing arguments, while defense attorneys reiterated that it's neither Kelly nor the person the state says was the underage girl - now a 23-year-old woman - on the tape. For three weeks, jurors have heard family members of the alleged victim, basketball coaches, forensics experts and others testify as to their identities.
While the tape rolled for a second time - the first was during opening statements last month - prosecutors told jurors that the man is Kelly, and that he controlled the encounter with the underage female, who was as young as 13 at the time.
"We're going to see his direction," Assistant State's Attorney Robert Heilengoetter said as the video played. He is "directing her to dance, where to stand, when to stop urinating," he said.
Kelly denies that the man in the video is him.
Craig Still Bonded To His Hand
Agent 007 still has all of his digits.
Daniel Craig was sent to the hospital after suffering a minor hand injury while filming the latest James Bond movie "Quantum of Solace" at Pinewood Studios near London.
"There was a minor incident on set," Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group spokesman Steve Elzer told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "Daniel injured his hand. He sought medical attention. He was back on the set within a matter of hours and production went on."
It's not the first accident that's occurred during filming for "Quantum of Solace." Stuntmen were injured while filming an action sequence on famously winding lakeside roads in Northern Italy in April. Neither Craig, director Marc Forster or any other cast members were at the location when those accidents occurred.
"Quantum of Solace" is the 22nd Bond film and is scheduled for release this year.
