Car Plunges Into Pond Near Venice

VENICE – A woman is in critical condition after her car plunged into a pond Saturday afternoon near the intersection of U.S. Highway 41 and Jacaranda Boulevard.
Gail A. Fitzgerald, 58, of Venice, was taken to Venice Hospital.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Fitzgerald's 1996 Toyota veered off a curve in the road, coming to rest in a pond about 35 feet away.
Fitzgerald was alone in the car, and no one else was hurt.
