A Citrus County man was arrested in Georgia last night on a charge that he killed his mother and dumped the body on a road in Hernando County.
Citrus County Sheriff's Office detectives say that working with other agencies, they were able to piece together sufficient probable cause to have an arrest warrant issued for Donald C. Wing Jr., 49, in connection with the death of his mother, 74-year-old Janet R. Wing.
Janet Wing disappeared from her Beverly Hills home under suspicious circumstances earlier this week.
This is what has happened since, according to a media release.
Detectives met with Wing's family members yesterday.
Preliminary autopsy results confirmed that the woman's manner of death was homicide, with trauma to her upper body.
Wing apparently lived with his mother in Citrus County. Janet Wing was known to split her time between Florida and family members in New York and other states. Based on physical evidence found in Wing's Jefferson Street home, in addition to other evidence and statements, Citrus detectives believe she was murdered there and transported to the site off a lime rock road in Hernando County.
Wing was the subject of a complaint filed with the Tift County Sheriff's Office in Georgia on Tuesday. He was subsequently hospitalized in nearby Thomas County until today.
He ultimately will return to Citrus County to face the charges.
