TAMPA - Police have charged four people with conspiring to purchase 21 pounds of marijuana for $59,000, arrest records show.
The four were arrested at 7:05 p.m. Friday at the home of one, at 6518 Dovewood Pl., after they showed the money to an undercover agent who had brought the marijuana, according to criminal report affidavits.
Arrested were Cary Margarita Lopez, 46, of New Jersey; Kristine J. Spurney, 41, of New Jersey; Frank Cardenas Ruiz, 34, of Tampa; and Manuel Angel Mujica, 34, of Miami.
All four were charged with purchasing marijuana, conspiring to purchase marijuana and transporting funds to promote unlawful activity, Hillsborough County jail records show. They all were released from Orient Road Jail this morning after posting bond, records show.
Affidavits said the four agreed between Tuesday and Friday to purchase the marijuana for $3,300 a pound. They were arrested after one of the suspects inspected a sample and then displayed the money in the presence of the agent, affidavits said.
