Shot difference between first-round co-leader Kevin Streelman's opening-day score and Friday's second-round score - 68 and 77.
Age in years of youngest player in the field, amateur Rickie Fowler, a freshman at Oklahoma State. After opening with a 70, he shot a 79 on Friday.
Wedges carried Friday by Phil Mickelson, who for the second straight day did not have a driver in his bag; he also didn't carry his 3 iron.
Number of players within 10 shots of the lead, thus making the cut.
SHOT OF THE DAY
The day's most attention-getting swing belonged to Ian Poulter, whose over-the-head sledgehammer rip into the ground at the 12th hole signaled his soon-to-come exit from the U.S. Open.
After missing the 12th fairway off the tee, Poulter stepped into deep rough, made a practice swing that sent grass flying, then took a mighty lash that squirted the ball 5 feet forward and 10 feet left. He then took two steps, raised the club like he was driving railroad spikes, and slammed it into the ground. Three holes later he withdrew with an undisclosed injury.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
"I can't. If you told me I was nine shots worse than my playing partners, I wouldn't believe you. I just cannot get my head around the way I putted out there for two days. I hit 13 fairways today and I made three bogeys." - Justin Rose, when asked to sum up his week (79-72)
HOLE OF THE DAY
No. 3
The par 3, playing at 198 yards Friday, had no shortage of action.
That's where Phil Mickelson produced the day's best par save.
After hitting a tee shot over the green and seeing his ball roll down a steep slope and into the canyon behind the hole, the left-hander wedged out of the bare ground, back to the green and sank a 25-foot putt to save par.
The hole also was where first-round co-leader Kevin Streelman made triple bogey.
