A man who held up a Burger King at breakfast today was arrested at lunchtime outside a Checkers, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.
The sheriff's office gave this account:
Scott Casy, 39, of Myakka City, entered the Burger King at 6722 14th St. in West Bradenton at about 8:10 a.m. and approached a 47-year-old woman working at the counter.
He handed her a note demanding all the money from the top drawer of the cash register.
The woman hesitated, called her manager over and pointed to the note.
The manager gave Casy $69 from the drawer.
As the robber left, he took the note and was last seen jogging through the parking lot of an adjacent motel.
Just before noon, deputies encountered a man resembling the robber in front of a Checkers Drive-In Restaurant at 6513 14th Street W.
Casy gave deputies a statement, the sheriff's office said, and they found he was carrying the robbery note and money from the Burger King.
Casy was arrested on charges including robbery.
