Armwood High head football coach Sean Callahan announced this morning that running back Sirchauncey Holloway, a rising senior who transferred from Plant City in January, has been declared ineligible by the Florida High School Athletic Association for one year after an investigation showed he falsified his living address.
Callahan and Armwood athletic director Don Hill said they were notified last week via a letter dated June 9 that Holloway was in violation of FHSAA bylaw 11.12.2, which states "A student who falsifies information to gain eligibility status that causes a member school to violate eligibility rules of this Association shall be declared ineligible to represent any member school for a period of one year from the date of the discovery of the violation."
Both Callahan and Hill added the Hawks football program was not reprimanded in any way by the FHSAA.
Callahan and Hill said the investigation was launched after a formal complaint was filed with the FHSAA on behalf of Plant City High School on May 23, the day after Armwood played in a spring jamboree at Newsome High. Callahan and Hill said the FHSAA then conducted an investigation, which showed Holloway had falisified his address to gain admittance into Armwood High as a move-in transfer.
"The FHSAA came down here, did a great job, was very fair and very professional," Callahan said. "They interviewed Don and myself and Sirchauncey and interviewed the parents and the whole bit.
"The bottom line is he doesn't live at the address he said he was at. The FHSAA does not have a problem with Armwood High School, does not have a problem with Sean Callahan or anything like that. I feel bad for Sirchauncey. He's a very good football player and a great kid."
The one-year suspension is in effect for all FHSAA member schools in Florida. Callahan said he was unsure whether Holloway would transfer out of Armwood. Hill added the school was still looking into whether Holloway was eligible to stay enrolled at Armwood, considering his true address is not in the school's zone.
