PORT RICHEY - One motorcyclist is injured and another dead after separate crashes moments apart early this morning.
Just after 2 a.m., a New Port Richey police officer was attempting to pull over two motorcyclists while they were northbound on U.S. 19. The first motorcyclist tried to pull over but struck a curb and was thrown from his motorcycle near River Gulf Road in Port Richey, police said.
That man was taken to a local hospital. His condition was not immediately available.
The second motorcyclist did not stop and continued speeding north for about a half mile, police say, and struck a tractor-trailer at Washington Street, killing him.
Police have not released the motorcyclists' names, and the investigation has not been concluded.
