A Hillsborough County deputy foiled an attempted robbery today at Grace Pharmacy in Tampa and officials are asking the public for help in identifying a suspect, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.
About 1:07 p.m., a man entered the pharmacy at 10915 Dale Mabry Highway N. with a bandana over his face. Unaware that a deputy was inside the store's back office area and could see him, the man put a black backpack on the counter.
As the man reached inside the backpack, the deputy walked out of the office and confronted the man, Carter said. The would-be robber turned and ran out of the pharmacy with the deputy chasing him.
The suspect was described as a white man, about 20 to 25 years old and 5 feet, 6 inches tall with a thin build. He had curly brown hair and brown eyes and wore blue jeans, a white T-shirt and a camouflage bandana over his face.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at (813) 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
