Regarding "City, County Work To Idle Growing Fuel Price Burden" (Metro, June 16):
The continuing rise in gasoline has finally gotten the attention of city and county governments.
I see where they are going to publish rules to stop idling, inflate tires properly and accelerate slower. Wow! Those ideas will certainly save a lot of money!
How about reconsidering the use of government vehicles out of the city or county limits?
As I travel all over the area I see law enforcement vehicles parked in front yards as far north as Wesley Chapel. Why can't these people park their cars in fire station lots or the numerous lots created for people to ride public transportation? These lots are mostly vacant, anyway.
I know some may be on call and may need the vehicle when they are, but everyone in government cannot be on call every day.
Government needs to address this ever-growing, expensive perk.
