TAMPA - A Tampa man accused of dealing cocaine was arrested Monday night on charges he threatened a confidential informant who helped make the case against him.
Paul E. Jones, 21, first was arrested Friday on charges he delivered cocaine, according to the Hillsborough County jail system Web site. He posted a $7,500 bail and was released at 4:17 a.m. Saturday.
Tampa police say Jones called the informant about 4:30 a.m. Saturday and "threatened to put him six feet under," a criminal arrest affidavit states.
Jones called again about 1 p.m., but this time a Tampa police officer was involved.
During the call, which the informant had on the phone's speaker, Jones acknowledged calling the informant earlier and told him he would make good on his threats, the affidavit states.
Police arrested Jones at 7 p.m. at 6727 S. Lois Ave., Apt. 902, and charged him with retaliating against a witness-informant.
He was being held at the Orient Road Jail. Bail was set at $250,000.
