Regarding "East-West Connector Is Dead In Its Tracks" (Metro, June 14):
Just another example of local government inefficiency - except this time it worked in my favor!
As a West Meadows resident since 1994, I have watched the progression - or lack thereof - of the East-West Connector Road that would plow through my subdivision and attended my fair share of MPO meetings to object.
Turns out, my participation may not have even been needed. The city and expressway authority officials simply priced themselves out of the market. After spending almost a million dollars for a study to study the road, they then developed a brilliant plan to charge Tampans almost $5 round trip to ride the three-mile road.
Can you just imagine how that would've gone over with Floridians? You'd sooner see tumbleweeds rolling down the road before you saw cars. But that's a moot point, now, isn't it?
