Published: June 18, 2008

Hundreds of friends, colleagues and strangers joined President Bush and his wife, Laura, in paying respects Tuesday to Tim Russert.

Several hundred people were in line more than an hour before the early afternoon start of the wake at St. Albans School, an elite private boys school on the grounds of Washington National Cathedral in Washington.

"It's just like a family member that's gone," said Mary Jo Quinn, who had traveled from Russert's hometown of Buffalo, N.Y., to the Washington area and extended her trip so she could attend the wake.

Russert, who was host of NBC's Sunday morning talk show "Meet the Press" and also Washington bureau chief for NBC News, died Friday of a heart attack at age 58. His son, Luke, is a graduate of the school where the wake was held.

Russert's funeral is scheduled for today.

Holmes Set To Make Broadway Debut
The curtain goes up Sept. 18 for Katie Holmes' Broadway debut.

That's the date the former "Dawson's Creek" star and wife of Tom Cruise begins preview performances in a revival of Arthur Miller's "All My Sons."

The production, which also stars John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson, officially opens Oct. 16 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre for a limited engagement through Jan. 11.

"All My Sons" concerns businessman Joe Keller (Lithgow) whose factory supplied defective cylinder parts to the military, resulting in the deaths of 21 pilots during World War II. Yet it was his business partner who went to jail for the mistake.

California Man Claims To Be Arnold's Son

A California man has filed a petition asking a Nashville, Tenn., court to order DNA testing he thinks will prove the late singer Eddy Arnold was his father.

Christopher Edward Tanner, 47, of Anaheim, Calif., said he submitted the request last week for paternity testing on Arnold's remains.

Arnold died last month at 89. His vocals on songs such as the 1965 "Make the World Go Away," a Top 10 pop hit as well as a No. 1 country hit, made him one of the most successful country singers in history.

Hey, Joan, That's No Way To Talk

Joan Rivers' salty tongue got her booted from a British daytime talk show in the middle of its live broadcast.

Rivers used two expletives while talking about Russell Crowe as a guest host on the live gab-fest "Loose Women." She was asked to leave during a commercial break.

The 75-year old comedian said in a statement Tuesday that she was sorry for the swearing and assumed that a censor would be able to "bleep" the words out.
