Sweetbay Supermarket Names New President

TAMPA - Sweetbay Supermarket announced this afternoon that it has promoted Michael Vail to president of the Tampa-based chain.
Vail succeeds Shelley Broader, the former president and chief executive who recently left the company for an executive position with Michaels Stores in Irving, Texas.
Vail has served more than 20 years with Sweetbay and its sibling chain Hannaford Bros. As senior vice president of retail operations, he led the operational transition from Kash n' Karry to Sweetbay four years ago.
Sweetbay is the No. 3 grocer in the Tampa Bay area with 61 stores and a 12.6 percent market share. It is No. 5 in the state, with 106 stores and a 2.9 percent market share.
