TAMPA - Investigators have arrested a third man they say was involved in breeding and training pit bulls to fight.

Kendelo Lamar Thomas, 37, of 14702 Livingston Ave., No. 209, was charged with multiple counts including confinement of animals without food and water, owning equipment for animal fighting and baiting, breeding, owning or possessing animals for fighting.

Tampa police arrested Eric L. Everett and Lorenzo Ashley on Tuesday after officers went to a house at 1407 E. 25th Ave. and found 23 pit bulls, including 14 puppies, on the property. Officers also discovered 3 pounds of marijuana. Both men also were arrested on drug charges.

Six of the seized pit bulls were registered in Hollis' name, Hillsborough County Animal Services Sgt. Pam Perry said.

The dogs are being treated at the county's animal services facility, Perry said.

Hollis was being held today at Orient Road Jail. Bail was set at $35,000.
