Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd will speak Monday at the National Retail Federation conference, detailing his agency's efforts in breaking up a multimillion-dollar retail crime ring in January.
The federation's Loss Prevention Conference and Expo will be held at 8:30 a.m. at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
Judd and members of the Polk County Sheriff's Office received national attention this year because of several highprofile cases, one of which was the retail crime ring that had stolen about $100 million worth of products over five years from 11 Florida counties.
Judd will discuss how his team worked with area retailers to track the suspects, the importance of partnering with the private sector and the value of educating the public about organized retail crime.
"Sheriff Judd's work taking down the multi-million dollar organized retail crime ring will go down in history and we will be honored to hear him share that story at our Loss Prevention Conference," said NRF Vice President of Loss Prevention Joseph Larocca.
The National Retail Federation is the world's largest retail trade association, with membership that comprises all retail formats and channels of distribution. NRF represents an industry with more than 1.6 million U.S. retail establishments and more than 24 million employees.
