TAMPA - In May, Ronald Westley Murphy fired a 9 mm handgun at a vehicle occupied by two people, Hillsborough County deputies say.
The vehicle was struck several times, and one person was hit in the hip, they say.
Deputies arrested Murphy at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The Tampa man was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Murphy told deputies he had argued with someone in the vehicle and that he was trying to shoot that person before the person could shoot him, an arrest affidavit states. The person he had argued with was not the one wounded May 21 on 131st Avenue in Tampa.
Murphy, 20, of 10014 Palermo Circle, No. 104, also was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office jail Web site.
Murphy remained in Orient Road Jail today. No bail had been set.
