TAMPA Expect a longer trip to downtown Tampa, St. Petersburg, Lakeland, Orlando and all other points east and west on Interstate 4 this weekend, if you are planning to take Interstate 75 south to I-4.
The Florida Department of Transportation will close the southbound I-75 exit (Exit 261) to I-4 for construction work from 6 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday, a FDOT release said.
Motorists headed south on I-75 will be directed to drive one mile south of the interchange and exit at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard (Exit 260). Turn left onto MLK, then take the next left to enter northbound I-75. Detour signs will direct motorists to exit northbound I-75 at Exit 261 to go to east or west on I-4.
Traffic will not be affected if you will be traveling east or west on I-4 between Tampa and Orlando.
