NEW YORK - Sticking with a New York theme, Tino Martinez and Davey Johnson will manage the Futures game next month as part of the All-Star festivities at Yankee Stadium.
Martinez, a former star for the Yankees, will handle the World squad of top minor-leaguers in the nine-inning Futures game. In the past, the event usually lasted seven innings.
Johnson, who managed the Mets to the 1986 World Series title, will guide the USA Olympic trial team in the exhibition July 13.
Martinez now works as a special assistant to Yankees manager Brian Cashman.
