Detectives are looking for several people who together siphoned 400 gallons of diesel fuel from a Lake Alfred gas station on June 12.
Deputies say a pickup truck and three large rigs pulled up to the BP station, 6600 County Road 557, and several people got out over the underground storage tanks pretending to repair the pickup, said Polk County sheriff's spokeswoman Carrie Rodgers.
The suspects then siphoned the fuel into the two rigs, taking about $2,000 worth of fuel, Rodgers said.
Authorities are looking for a dark blue rig, a red rig with flames painted on the passenger side and a trailer with the letters "FBS" on it.
Deputies ask that anyone with information contact Det. Scott Cronin at (863) 297-1100 or 1-800-226-0344.
