When Gisela Maria Torres was fired from her job at a Temple Terrace medical office yesterday, she didn't go quietly, according to police.

She caused a ruckus, refused to leave the office and when she did, she took off with patient files and billing information, according to a criminal report affidavit.

Torres' tumultuous termination took place shortly before 3:30 p.m. at a medical office at 10320 N. 56th St., according to the affidavit, which offers the police version of what happened next.

After she was fired, Torres, 27, created such a scene that the office manager called police. When they arrived, Torres walked off with the files. She returned to the office parking lot, dumped one of the files, then got in her car and drove away,

A few minutes later, she was pulled over near Serena Drive and 50th Street.,

When police searched Torres and her car, they found more than the file.

Police found 14 oxycodone pills in a bottle in her purse. When police called the doctor whose name was listed on the bottle, the doctor said she is out of state and did not write the prescription.

Torres also had a broken hydrocodone pill wrapped up in a blue piece of paper.

When Torres opened her car door, police made another discovery.

They found a 12-inch knife in a sheath wedged between the door and the seat. Torres said it belonged to her boyfriend.

After she was arrested, Torres told police that she took the files and wrote the prescription for the oxycodone herself.

Torres was charged with theft of trade secrets, possession of a controlled substance, burglary of an occupied structure, carrying a concealed weapon, trafficking in illegal drugs 14 to 18 grams and obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.

She is being held at the Orient Road Jail, according to jail records, with no bond set.
