TEMPLE TERRACE - A 37-year-old man was arrested this morning after police found him drunk—and his 17-year-old son nearly passed out—in front of a convenience store, according to an arrest affidavit.

Edward J. Price, of 10454 Rockford Ave., Englewood, was charged with driving under the influence and aggravated child abuse.

According to a report by Temple Terrace police, this is what happened about 9:23 a.m.

Officers were called to a Circle K convenience store at 5601 Fowler Ave. after receiving reports of people drinking alcohol inside a vehicle. Police found Price behind the wheel of a gold SUV with the engine running and the transmission in reverse.

Two women, whose names and ages were not listed in the police report, were inside the vehicle. Police said Price and his son picked the women up before arriving in Temple Terrace.

The teen was slumped over in the backseat and alcohol had spilled on his pants.

Police said Price was aware of his son's condition and that the teen had been drinking. Price agreed to sobriety tests but could not complete them. Jail records show he had blood alcohol levels of 0.147 and 0.134. The legal limit in Florida to drive is 0.08.

Price recently got custody of his son, the arrest report said.

Price was being held today without bail at Orient Road Jail.
