The sun teased Pasco County on Sunday, peeking out several times. But the sky was mostly gray, and the rain poured on already waterlogged lawns and into taxed drainage systems.
On Bonita Road and Holiday Drive in Holiday, the water masking roadways was 3 feet deep in places. Several motorists turned when they saw the high water; others stalled out and pushed their vehicles to higher ground.
Coastal Pasco saw 1 to 2 inches in spots, according to the National Weather Service.
Lightning and heavy rain are likely to blame for knocking out power at about 10 a.m. to about 11,000 Progress Energy customers near Grand Boulevard and Moog Road in Holiday and New Port Richey. Traffic lights in the area went out intermittently. All power was restored within two hours.
