TAMPA - Rena Edelle Irizarry argued with her daughter about the phone and going to camp, deputies say.
Then Irizarry got a metal utensil – possibly tongs – and hit the child, leaving marks on the girl's back, arm and fingers, an arrest affidavit states. Irizarry also punched the girl in the mouth, the report says.
Hillsborough County deputies arrested Irizarry on Monday night.
She was charged with child abuse.
Irizarry, 33, of Tampa, remained in Orient Road Jail today. Her bail was set at $1,000.
