PINELLAS PARK - A car making an illegal U-turn crossed in front of a public bus Wednesday, causing a crash that injured nine passengers, police said.
The passengers received non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to four different hospitals, according to a Pinellas Park police news release. The names of the passengers were not immediately available.
Donald White, 48, the driver of the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority bus, declined medical treatment. Cynthia Hoskin, 34, of Pinellas Park, the driver of the red Acura Integra that made the U-turn, also declined treatment.
Hoskin was driving north about 3:30 p.m. on 49th Street when she started to make a U-turn at the intersection of 110th Avenue to travel southbound, police said. Hoskin's car turned into the path of the bus, Pinellas Park police Sgt. Brian Unmisig said.
The rain did not contribute to the crash, Unmisig said.
