Bag Of Drugs Pops Out Of Inmate During Strip Search

MANATEE COUNTY — When a Manatee jail officer saw something odd during the strip search of an inmate last week, he knew he had to probe deeper into the situation.

So the deputy asked the man to squat and cough twice, and when he did, a plastic bag containing 26 oxycodone pills popped out of his butt cheeks and fell onto the floor.

According to an arrest report, Rodney A. Rupert, 32, of Myakka City had the pills concealed while he was already being held at the jail on a separate drug possession charge.

Later, after the pills were determined to be the prescription painkiller oxycodone, for which Rupert did not have a prescription. As a result, he had a possession of contraband arrest added to his charges.
