Deputies are searching for three ancient Indian artifacts stolen from the Weedon Island Preserve's Cultural and Natural History Center during the weekend.
Two deer bone pins and a fossilized ornamental plummet, or plumb-bob, were taken from a display at the center, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
A plummet is a weighted string that is used to define a straight vertical line.
Workers noticed the empty display on Monday and say the thief cut or loosened the screws holding the display window shielding the items.
Deputies say the value of the stolen items is unknown.
Anyone with information should contact Deputy Charlie Tita at (727) 582-6221 or, to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
