A St. Petersburg man was killed as he tried to cross U.S. 19 in Palm Harbor on Tuesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Charles Timothy Jones, 56, was trying to cross northbound U.S. 19 near Coral Landing Boulevard about 10:50 p.m. Jones walked into the path of a Jeep Liberty driven by Emiljan Precaj, 27, of Palm Harbor, troopers said.
Emiljan swerved left and tried to brake, but the right side of the SUV hit Jones, who was pronounced dead at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.
No further details were immediately available.
