WESLEY CHAPEL - Pasco deputies on Tuesday arrested a 44-year-old man accused of threatening a 20-year-old man with a sling blade gardening tool.
Adam Jablonski was visiting a friend and went to the backyard tiki bar next door to listen to music. Brian Craighead, according to a sheriff's office report, was intoxicated and "started talking trash to everyone," saying he could beat them up. He went to a nearby shed, got a sling blade and then started toward Jablonski "in a threatening manner," the report states.
Jablonski started backing away, grabbed an empty liquor bottle and threw it at Craighead, causing a small cut on his cheek, the report states; Craighead put the sling blade back in the shed and returned with a box cutter. But his landlord, Lance Fisher, came out and took it away from him.
Two teenage friends of Jablonski's reportedly witnessed the incident.
Craighead, who was "extremely intoxicated," told deputies he was sitting at the tiki bar when four youths jumped him and one threw a bottle at him, according to the report. He said he went to his camper and got a rake to defend himself. He denied using a sling blade.
Craighead, of 3307 Fox Ridge Blvd., was taken to Florida Hospital Zephyrhills, where he was medically cleared before being booked into the Land O' Lakes Jail on an aggravated assault charge. He was being held Wednesday with bail set at $3,500.
