Published: June 26, 2008

A pair of sophomore transfers signed letters-of-intent to play for Saint Leo next fall, Coach Ged O'Connor announced Tuesday.

F Malloree Enoch, formerly of NAIA Concordia (Ore.), and MF/F Courtney Kassab, formerly of Division I Arkansas State, should help bolster a Saint Leo offense that averaged a Sunshine State Conference-best 2.60 goals and 2.45 assists per game.

Enoch, from Fairview, Ore., has not played collegiate soccer since 2003, when she earned NAIA All-American honors and was a top goal-scorer for Concordia as a redshirt freshman. O'Connor said her experience will be an asset to the team.

Kassab, from Pinckney, Mich., was recruited by Saint Leo prior to signing with Arkansas State coming out of high school. She started nine games and had one goal and four assists as the Red Wolves struggled through a 3-13-2 season.

ANOTHER VOLLEYBALL SIGNING: Corey Ryan, a defensive specialist and setter from Dearborn, Mich., is the third member of the Lions' 2008 volleyball recruiting class.

Ryan was an All-Conference and All-Region selection while in high school who left with a school-record 1,248 assists. She likely will play behind senior S Michelle Nogueras, who was fifth in the SSC in assists and fourth in service aces, running an offense that was second in the conference in hitting percentage.

"Corey brings us more depth at the setting position, if we choose to run a 6-2 offense," Coach Sam Cibrone said in a news release. "Plus, she is a solid defender to play defensive specialist in right back or middle back."
Saint Leo added height and hitting with its other signings - 5-foot-10 outside hitter Jessica Bryant from Land O' Lakes, and 6-2 middle blocker Danielle Bletso from Ohio.

NATIONAL TEAM SETTLES IN: The Trinidad and Tobago Under-17 Women's Soccer national team is conducting a 10-day training camp at Saint Leo in preparation for the final round of CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) qualifying for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, which will be held in Trinidad from July 17-26.

The team was scheduled to play five matches at University Field. The rest of this week's schedule includes games Friday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. as well.
